Kirsten Johnson is an interesting woman. I was late to class the day she was speaking and the first thing that caught my eye was the extremely bright colors she was wearing. I looked at the audience and noticed monotone colors and then when I look at her, it was just different. In a good way. I think part of the reason why Kristen moved around a lot was because of two reasons. One of the reason was scouting the room. If I was Kristen I would've also moved around to see what type of shots, angles, and positions I should/could use. The second reason was to get to know people. Getting to know people helps before you film because you kind of get them ready and comfortable. It also makes it especially easier when filming a documentary. When Kirsten was on the floor, I thought to my self "This person is really unique". But the question of what is she trying to say is basically to get comfortable with yourself and how you shoot. I think. The reason is because if you are not c...

Movie: Triple Frontier Scene: House raid The Sounds In movies where it involves guns. The first thing I listen for is sound design. The reason being is you want the gun to feel like a powerful weapon. In Triple Frontier there is a bunch of inconsistencies. For example, in the first scene we see everyone using assault rifles. Then it transitions to one of the characters using a pistol. You can determine that there is reverb from the assault rifles, however the pistols do not have the same effect, the sounds from the pistols are crisp and clear. I'm not sure if it was intentional but it does ruin the consistency. The Shots In this scene, they favored medium shots to long shots. The reason is because of the location they are in and the main characters having good spatial awareness. In the first scene its a medium wide shot, then cuts to a medium low angle shot. If you look at the video the eye level stays on the top line of the rule of thirds. The YouTube video then skips the whole ...

In the last assignment I was fortunate enough to visit a nearby forest trail with my friend. Unlike the city this was a suburban area. The neighborhood surrounding the forest was a quiet community, quiet enough where we can hear our own equipment banging on each other, our shoes hitting the cement as we walk, and as we got closer to the forest, crickets chirping. Although we filmed on the trail we did it in silence because we wanted to capture everything. From the planes flying by, the leaves on the floor crunching as we walk, the crickets, and bugs buzzing around our heads. The walk was pretty therapeutic as you could clear your mind, breathe “fresher” air and just tone out everything and enjoy nature. The most satisfying thing to me was probably stepping on the leaves. It has a consistent sound every time you take a step. Much like fresh snow and how that has a satisfying crunch sound. The crickets chirping remind you that you are in a place that is filled with life and ...
